Navy Events and How I Survive Them
A few weeks ago, we attended a Navy event. Hubby told me about this weeks in advance, but it went in one ear and out the other. Nope, didn’t even write it on my calendar. He mentioned it a couple of days beforehand. And yes, I tried to get out of it. And of course, he reminded me how much he paid for the tickets, so I sucked it up and went.

Medal Of Honor Documentary D.C. Red Carpet Event
We moved to D.C. with me kicking and screaming because I didn’t want to leave Hawaii. One of my good friends told me to think about the bright side of the move. Hmmmm….bright side of leaving beautiful weather year round to move to D.C. where it’s cold in the winter? Girl, no! She said, “I think D.C. will be a great move for Mamas and Coffee.” Blah, blah. Well, once I announced the move to my group so many mentioned they lived in the DMV. Oh, snap. My friend may have a point. She encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and go for it. So, one day…

List of Veterans Day Discounts and Promotions
Veterans Day is November 11. Veterans Day honors military personnel who have served in the United States Armed Forces. It falls on a Sunday this year but will be observed by the government Monday, November 12. Some school systems will be closed and others will open. Our kids will be in school on Monday. While they are in school, hubby and I will enjoy exploring D.C. and a few of the Veterans Day Discounts and Promotions at local and national businesses.

A Fun Day At The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery
One goal I set when we found out the family was moving to D.C. was to hit a site once a week or so. Many times as military families we have big goals to explore our new home for the few years we are there, but then we realize we have things to do. Things like work, school, activities, etc. Yeah, normal things like everyone else cause that location becomes our home and not a vacation destination. Then the excuses of why we don’t have time to have fun and explore creeps in. Well, I made the mistake of telling a friend of mine who was also moving to the…

12 Ways to Make your Winter PCS as Painless as Possible
For many families, PCS season has come and gone, but for those preparing for a winter change of station, PCS season hasn’t even begun. With the potential for snow, ice, and frigid temperatures, a winter PCS can seem more daunting than mere mention of the words “polar vortex”. Don’t panic—while there are disadvantages to moving long distance during the winter months, there are also some advantages you can look forward to:

Here We Are Just Surviving A PCS From Hawaii
How are we surviving our latest PCS? Boy oh boy. It’s been the most interesting one for sure, but in a nutshell, we haven’t totally flipped our wigs yet. We’ve been close, but everyone is still alive and functioning. Every day I remind myself that we are just out here living and SURVIVING A PCS LIKE A BOSS! Let me start with Carlos. #TeamCarlos left the island before any of us. He flew the friendly skies with Delta Airlines and spent a month with my in-laws. Dude is still acting like he’s at his grandparents’ house. They allowed him to sit on the furniture or in their laps and do…

Carlos Flying The Friendly Skies With Delta Cargo
So, we’ve left Hawaii and made it to our first stop safely. One important task we had to do before leaving the island was to ship Carlos. When you do an OCONUS (overseas PCS. Yes, Hawaii is in the US, but it’s considered an overseas move for the military) PCS you must ship your pets to your next duty station. And the only option you have is shipping your pet by air. And we did just that by using Delta Cargo.

Why Do Many Military Families Move During The Summer
PCS season is here! If you live anywhere near a military base, you see trucks with crates moving about almost daily. Summer is a busy PCS time for military families all around the world. Why do military families love PCSing during the summer? School is out! It’s easier to transfer children during the summer months than smack dab in the middle of the school year or even worse, other times of the school year. We’ve done two mid-year moves. When we left Japan to Maryland, we moved

It’s That Time Of Year
It’s that time of year for so many of us. That’s right, PCS season. Time to get up out of dodge! Time to purge and pack your crap and go. When I first became a Navy wife Facebook didn’t exist. The only thing accessible in meeting others outside of your local friends was a thing called chat groups or the phone hook-up. Yep, I was in a chat group on Yahoo. And yes, I did meet a spouse moving to the same area I was. Nowadays you have the ease of joining very specific groups for your new duty station. BUT, before you can get to your new duty station…
