Like Arrows: The Art Of Parenting
This movie brought me to tears, and I don’t cry. As I watched it, I saw what many families (mine included) struggle with on a daily basis. The Art Of Parenting; The balance of life and raising children. Knowing what to do and where to turn for guidance. If you are a regular here at Mamas and Coffee, you already know I’m not much of a reviewer, but more of a storyteller and sharing how things relate to my family. This article will be no different.

Picky Eaters – You Gonna Learn Today My Darling
Welcome to another one of MomJonz’s quick question and answer sessions! So, do you have a child that refuses to eat the meals you cook? Are you just done and over it? Remember, you’re aren’t alone. Your child also isn’t the first and most definitely will NOT be the last to be a picky eater. When our girls were young and started being the picky little eater I wanted to beg and plead for her to eat. You see I said her (singular), cause after that first rodeo it was for the birds. There wasn’t going to be any begging and pleading for the next two.

It’s Monday! Yes, Monday is my favorite day of the week. Whenever someone asks the question, “What is your favorite day of the week and why?” I quickly yell…”MONDAY!” Oh, honey, yes! The kids head off to school, and the hubby heads off to work. It’s just me and Carlos chilling at home. Now don’t get me wrong. The struggle is real when it comes to that 5:00 a.m. alarm. Go ahead and ask why I’m up at

The Scariest 38 Minutes Of My Life
It’s a Saturday morning at my home on Oahu. I was awake around 6 a.m., relaxing in bed, chatting with hubby, and playing on our phones. He was reading the news, and I was up catching up on Facebook posts. You know, a typical relaxing morning. But this morning became the scariest 38 minutes of my life. DadJonz rolled out of bed and got dressed to go on his morning run. As he did so, he was talking about how he didn’t feel like running. So, I’m a terrible influence and told him just to take the day off. It didn’t take much convincing.

Don’t Say These Things When You Meet A Black Person
Meeting new people every couple of years is part of my life as a military spouse, and I do love it. I meet some great people, some interesting people and some that leave me scratching my head. So since I’m tackling the race conversation on MY platform, I want to share a few things that really leaves me baffled and in my opinion should be rethought when it comes to that initial introduction. Let’s just call it…THINGS YOU SHOULDN’T SAY TO BLACK PEOPLE during the initial introduction.

It’s been awhile since Carlos came by to brighten your day. What has this little fella been up to? How is this Maltese living in Hawaii? Well, well. Carlos is living it up in Hawaii. Hold on, let me get him so he can share what he’s been up to lately. Ruff, Ruff. I’ve been living it up! My mom went to the mall a few weeks ago while my granny was here visiting. They came home with a rug from this department store called Ross. She always tells DadJonz that she goes there cause she can SHOP FOR LESS and DadJonz always rolls his eyes.

We wanted the same colorful and bright books. Cause you know, kids like bright and fun colors. Even though my children are older, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to participate in a review and a GIVEAWAY of a book written by respected Pastor Rick Warren, a #1 New York Times bestselling author.

Troubleshooting Your Child’s Tantrums
One of my favorite things about being a father is watching my son’s personality and sense of self develop. The kid has a great sense of humor and is constantly developing new skills. Unfortunately, as kids grow more into themselves, they also try to dictate their own will more often, even if that “will” involves dipping their hands into toilet water. As responsible parents, it is our job to teach these youngsters to resist the urge to dip their hands into the proverbial toilet, but this almost always results in the dreaded tantrum.

Having A Pet Helps You Build Empathy
Every little boy and girl dreams of having a pet of their own to cuddle with and play with. Whether it’s a dog, a cat, or a lizard, every child at some point in their life yearns for their own pet. We all remember the devastation as a young child when you’d ask your mom for a puppy and be told ‘no’ for the thousandth time. However, this may be a mistake. There are a lot of benefits to growing up with a pet, especially an animal like a dog.
