Yeah, This Mom Lost Her Mind When It Came To Education
What is education? I know this seems like a strange question for some, but I think it’s important to discuss and ensure you know where I’m coming from for future posts. What Is Education When I speak of education, I speak from the meaning of an enlightening moment and gaining knowledge to help one succeed in life. Education does not STOP at school. Many parents go wrong here. In our daily lives, youth and adults are being educated; we NEVER stop learning. Think about it, as you walk on a beautiful trail with your child, friend, spouse, dog, etc. you see some strange looking leaf or flower. What do you…

You Married Your Husband, Not Your Parents
This is great if you’re married, engaged or want to be married one day. This is the best advice given to me and the best advice I can give as a happily married woman to another woman that wants to be happily married one day. And yes, I added HAPPILY cause some folks are just married and miserable from all ends. And being happy in your marriage doesn’t mean that you don’t want to throat punch one another sometimes. Hey, just keeping it real! But you gotta learn from day one to keep people out of your relationships and most definitely out of your marriage. And before I continue, let’s…

Yes, I See Skin Color and Proud of It
Dear people, this is new and out of my comfort zone. But when you know you’ve been pushed along to share your story you must obey and do so. So here goes…. I hope this starts a new conversation between you and I. I hope it helps with opening discussion amongst neighbors, co-workers, family, and friends. We all can learn from one another, and unless we have an open race conversation, we will continue to have hatred, harden hearts and hurt. It’s ok to talk about race issues, and it’s ok to SEE COLOR. I SEE SKIN COLOR EVERY DAY!

Summer is full of celebrations and people getting older and wiser in this house. When people say time flies when you’re having fun, it does. As we get ready to celebrate birthdays, it made me think back to all of the baby store shopping excursions. Mainly, me not knowing what the heck I was looking for, but the best memories are thinking about all the fun shopping for cute little outfits.

A Testimony – Rape Is Not My Fault
Intro: About 2 years ago I wrote out my entire testimony about how the Lord had brought me through the tragedy of rape; through the waters of infertility and then through the crushing financial time of filing bankruptcy and being where I am today. Recently we did a cleanup day at my house, and unfortunately the old notebook containing that written testimony was misplaced/tossed out. Funny thing is, instead of being very upset about that – I feel that it is God telling me to “rewrite it”, just as He is “rewriting me” now that I have again gone through yet another difficult time losing my father, and am in…

A Card Goes A Long Way and Means So Much
We are all tuned into social media with the ease of sending invites and doing a blanket Thank You to everyone on a list, but do you remember the days of receiving that hand written note or card in the mail? The smile the card put on your face knowing something special happened in someone’s life or that someone is thinking about you? A card goes a long way in making someone’s day special, so why not create some custom cards for your family and friends.

Classic Denim For Kids Without Breaking The Bank
Denim is a classic. I mean, you CAN’T go wrong with having denim in your family’s wardrobe. I also know that finding a great pair of jeans, cute skirt or dress can also be very difficult and pricey for growing kids. I don’t mind dropping a nice penny on my denim cause I’m not going to out grow them in a month, but for my little ones…hmmmmm…….it hurts! So, where can you find a good deal on those classics that everyone should have in their closet, even kids?

Wear and Rock Your Curls Girlfriend
As you see in my header, I have natural big curly hair. It always seems to strike up a conversation with curious people. I chuckle whenever someone tries to ask me questions about my hair (they always seem to be a bit nervous). And I really chuckle when someone reaches out to touch it. “No! Don’t do that!” “Please, don’t touch my hair!” “Yes, it’s my hair and yes it’s this curly, bouncy and it will grow like a Chia Pet over the course of a few days, even hours.” However, two of my daughters’ hair is nothing like mine, and one is very similar.

Back-To-School Shopping With Fashion Diva Girl – There Goes My Budget
I scream, you scream, we all scream “IT’S BACK-TO-SCHOOL time!” Yes, I love summer vacation and being home with the kiddos, but I also love when everyone packs up and heads out the door for a few hours each day. Carlos and I can sit quietly on the couch without hearing, “Mommy, she’s talking to me.” “Mommy, what are we doing today?” “Mommy, I don’t want to go anywhere today.” They know not to say, “Mommy, I’m bored!” Back-to-school also means some new back-to-school gear. Wait, do people still say they are getting some new gear? Boy, I’m old. Anywho, let me share my saga of back-to-school clothes shopping with…

10 Reasons Why We Travel With Our Kids
Before I had children traveling was part of my military service. One week here and another week somewhere else. I was able to see beautiful places only people dream of. I was a paid traveler in a sense. Now that my husband and I retired our Dixie hats and decided to live a civilian life. Along that life came children. Many families assume that once kids come along traveling and adventures will have to wait. I oppose that idea.
