Modern Day Rosie – How Our Military Spouse Community Can Inspire Our Nation During COVID-19
One of the things I have always loved about our military community has been the “givers.” They’ve been there. At every duty station. In every base housing neighborhood. And at our base chapel all along. The neighbor across the street that you could ask for an egg or some milk when you forgot to purchase something at the commissary (or were trying to stretch things until the next payday).

Military Spouses Have A Unique Voice
In the spring of 1999, I walked into a hangar at Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois and adjusted my eyes to the sea of white, as I searched for one particular sailor. Our Navy journey began that day. It took us to Charleston, South Carolina; to New Jersey where we lost friends on September 11th and my spouse unexpectedly deployed to the Persian Gulf; to Nebraska, Berkeley, Pensacola, and Oklahoma; and finally to Maryland, where he completed Test Pilot School and is now finishing up his final tour with the Navy before he retires. Along the way we acquired three kids, a couple of dogs, dozens of friends who…

PFAS – The Toxic Chemical Putting Military Personnel At Risk
PFAS (Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl) are chemical substances that can be found in a various number of products, from adhesives, packaging of food, cookware or even clothes. But given the small concentration that can be found in all of the above mentioned products, although concerning, it doesn’t pose a huge health threat at this moment. This being said, there is a real risk regarding PFAS toxins that must be taken into serious account, and that regards the concentration of it in the composition of AFFF – Aqueous Film Forming Foam or simpler said, Firefighting Foam.

Remote Work For Military Spouse Employment
I met a dashing young man in college years ago but didn’t give much thought to it because I had career goals that didn’t include a husband, kids and most definitely, nothing near a military life. That all changed when I walked down the aisle and said, “I Do!” That dashing young man is now my husband; a Naval Officer.

Read A Bedtime Story To Your Little One No Matter How Near or Far You Are
Every few years we tell our parents that we are moving. Moving further away and even though they are happy for us career-wise, a little piece of them is saddened about missing out on the grandkids growing up. Our kids didn’t have the opportunity to spend the night with their grandparents whenever they wanted or hang out at their house all weekend. They also didn’t have the chance to cuddle up with their favorite book for grandma or papa to read to them.

Navy Events and How I Survive Them
A few weeks ago, we attended a Navy event. Hubby told me about this weeks in advance, but it went in one ear and out the other. Nope, didn’t even write it on my calendar. He mentioned it a couple of days beforehand. And yes, I tried to get out of it. And of course, he reminded me how much he paid for the tickets, so I sucked it up and went.

Medal Of Honor Documentary D.C. Red Carpet Event
We moved to D.C. with me kicking and screaming because I didn’t want to leave Hawaii. One of my good friends told me to think about the bright side of the move. Hmmmm….bright side of leaving beautiful weather year round to move to D.C. where it’s cold in the winter? Girl, no! She said, “I think D.C. will be a great move for Mamas and Coffee.” Blah, blah. Well, once I announced the move to my group so many mentioned they lived in the DMV. Oh, snap. My friend may have a point. She encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and go for it. So, one day…
