Happy Mother’s Day to you! Sit back, prop your feet up and relax.
Clear your mind and let the sun shine through your smile as you accept that macaroni necklace or the lovely self-painted portrait your child made at school.
Yeah, grit those teeth as you hear the mess being created in the kitchen and don’t worry, it will be there waiting for you Monday morning. Just enjoy the lovely breakfast in bed being served to you; that is bacon on your plate. I know, it’s a bit burnt, but just wash it down with the half glass of OJ cause the other half is on the stairway carpet. It’s ok. It will be soaked up with just a damp paper towel. You can clean this Monday too. HAHAHAHAHAHA
Take that glance of the morning breakfast mess as you head out the door for church and put it out of your mind cause you need to hear the sermon God has in store for you. And yes, that mess will probably grow before Monday morning cause after you get home, your family will cook you dinner. Why? Because, you told them you didn’t want to go out to a restaurant and fight the crowds. Yep, your family will remind you that everyone followed YOUR instructions (yes, this is the one time a year they listen to you. lol).
The quiet time you requested, no that will come later this week. Sit back on the couch after dinner to enjoy the talent show the entire family put together for you. Yes, the dog and cat have an act too.
It’s now bedtime, and everyone is heading up as you finally sink into that 5 minutes of silence when you suddenly hear, “Babe, don’t worry about the kitchen. I will get it all cleaned before bed.” You smile and nod as you head back to your utopia. When you suddenly hear….“MOM! Are you coming up to say goodnight?!”
You mumble to yourself, “I thought this was Mother’s Day and I all I asked for was a few hours of silence.” But, you get up off the couch, walk up the steps, step in the OJ spot you must clean in the morning, and go to each room to say good night. Yes, even to your teenager’s room. You peek in your bedroom, and there you find your husband sound asleep.
But oh, what about the mess downstairs? It’s ok; it will be there Monday morning waiting. Take your moment of silence, relax and reflect on all the memories of becoming and being an AMAZING Mama!
Happy Mother’s Day to you. And DON’T forget to call your own MAMA!
Love you mama, and I hope you got your gift on time. Ok, who am I kidding? You know I’m slow, and my gifts usually arrive a day late. SMH lol Some things will NEVER change. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
