Avoid Summer Learning Loss With These Few Tips
Summer break has begun or quickly approaching for many students. Don’t allow your child to encounter the dreaded summer slide educators talk about at the beginning of each year. Let’s avoid the summer learning loss for your child! Parents often ask for suggestions to help their children during the summer. So, here’s a few simple things I recommend:
-
Define Self-esteem
I decided to ask my children to define self-esteem. My middle daughter replied, “It has to do with bullying.” My eldest replied, “confidence, being ok with self, loving yourself.” My youngest replied, “hmmmm….something to do with plants. You know, they have stems!” I immediately began rubbing and shaking my head. Being the mommy I am, we stopped to discuss vowel sounds. Wow! A mommy fail moment.

5 Ways to Trick Your Kids into Eating Healthy
A well balanced diet is vital to promoting healthy growth and strong physical health in children, of course. But did you know that proper nutrition has a profound effect on your child’s mental health as well? (Just refer to this article on the link between nutrition and mental health.) Proper nutrition can affect your child’s focus and mood, even helping them control anxiety and conditions like ADHD.

What Is Bullying?
I remember watching others deal with bullies as a Junior High kid (I don’t hear that used much anymore. It’s Middle School now I guess), but I don’t recall having a bully in my early education life. We had “mean” kids. You know, that child that likes to pick boogers and wipe on everyone. The child that seemed to enjoy taking your crayons and breaking them. They may even say a few hurtful words to you on the playground. And if they did get physical with you, it was them pushing you out of line for the slide. It seems our kids are growing up a bit faster and meaner…

I’m Skinny And LOVE IT
My name is Sybil; I’m a mother of three, and I wear a size 0.Ohhhh……What did you just think? Was it pleasant or was it negative? Yep, I’m a skinny lady and love it! However, many people have a lot to say about skinny people. Yes, skinny people are victims of body shaming.

Mini Golf Near Pearl Harbor
Are you heading to or new to Naval Base Pearl Harbor? We moved here right after Christmas, the weather was nice, and the kids were ready to head out to explore. We were all excited about our new adventure and wanted to hit the ground running. Of course, you MUST check out a beach or two within the first couple of days, but there were a few days I thought it was just a little too cool. Procrastination Jonz wanted to do a little bit of Go-Cart racing and play Mini Golf. So, here I am on the search for Mini Golf near Pearl Harbor Navy Lodge.

Summertime Projects to Keep Kids Busy
Here it comes, the moment that kids have been anticipating since Christmas… summer break! How you feel about summer break might be a little different, though. I mean, sure, it’s nice to have more opportunity to spend quality time with your kids. Summer is a great time for family activities, parties, and vacations. However, it doesn’t take long for those days to stretch out and feel empty. In my house, it only takes a few weeks before kids come up to me complaining “I’m bored!” And we all know what happens when kids get bored… chaos!

Little Divas Glamming Up Their Style
This house is full of Divas. A house of 4 Divas can be a bit interesting. Add a house of Divas with a lot of hair and living in Hawaii makes it even more interesting. Yes, the weather is always beautiful, but add humidity and natural hair to the mix. Boy, oh boy. I came across our new best friend to continue to be Divas and practical….hair tie holder bracelet. BOOM! Yeah, continue reading. My kids leave the house with really cute hairstyles every morning. By the time they come home, it looks like a comb never touched their hair. Heck, it’s the same with my hair too. Between hiking,…
